what & why?

What is a Brand Guide?

A brand guide (or brand style guide) is a document that outlines the rules and guidelines for how a brand should be represented across different platforms and media. It ensures consistency in branding, which helps build recognition and trust with audiences.

What a Brand Guide Typically Includes:

1. Brand Overview – Mission, vision, values, and the overall personality of the brand.

2. Logo Usage – Approved logo versions, spacing, color variations, and incorrect usage examples.

3. Color Palette – Primary and secondary brand colors with specific HEX, RGB, and CMYK codes.

4. Typography – Fonts and styles for headlines, body text, and other applications.

5. Imagery & Graphics – Guidelines for photography, icons, and illustration styles.

6. Tone & Voice – How the brand communicates in writing (formal, friendly, playful, etc.).

7. Application Examples – How the brand should look in ads, social media, business cards, and other materials.

Why is a Brand Guide important?

Just as the physical building of your church provides a consistent, visual representation of your church in the community, your Brand provides a consistent visual representation of your church on digital platforms and mediums. When followed, your Brand Guide protects that consistency across various ministries, teams, ministers, or volunteers.
